BACK BACK PRESENTING IMAGES PRINTS PDIs (Projected Digital Images)

The original image, whether Print or PDI, must be all your own work, as must any post-processing adjustments performed on the image.  You may produce the print yourself or use a commercial printing, mounting or framing service.

You can submit up to 4 images, Prints or PDIs.  Please use the Entry Form which must arrive, complete with PDIs attached (including those for prints), at the Competition Secretary at least 8 days before the comp date.  Prints must be handed in no later than the Monday preceding the competition unless special arrangements have been made.

Prints can be any size up to a maximum of 50 x 40 cm and can be on a printer paper surface of your choice.

They should be mounted on suitable mount board (best to stick to black, grey, beige or white) which can be larger than the print but no larger than 50 x 40 cm.

Prints with a bevel-cut front mount must also have a complete backboard mount.

Prints can be in full colour or in monochrome.

A PDI of each print, sized as opposite, is required for projection during the print competition so that members at the back of the room can see and follow the judge’s comments.  We attempt to stop judges from looking at this projected image.

PDIs should be sized up to 1600 x 1200 pixels for internal competitions and saved as JPEG files at minimum compression (setting 12 in Photohop).  You are not required to stick to this format precisely, but either the width must be 1600 pixels or the height must be 1200 pixels.  Clearly for a portrait shape, the height would be 1200 pixels and the width significantly smaller.

For external competitions you must comply with the sizing stated in the rules of the competition.

PDIs can be in full colour or in monochrome.

In all instances, the colour space should be sRGB.

A note explaining how to size the image in PS and PSE can be accessed here.
